Looking out of your room or sitting on one of our terraces, you could think that you could almost reach out and touch Hohenschwangau Castle – and in fact it is only a short walk to this beautiful castle! The ruins of Schwanstein Castle were bought by Crown Prince Maximilian of Bavaria in 1832 and rebuilt by 1836 using the original plans in a neo-Gothic style.
His son, King Ludwig II, not only spent his youth here, but he also used the castle as his summer residence until his death in 1886.
Hohenschwangau Castle has been owned by Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds since 1928.
Please note that Hohenschwangau Castle can only be viewed as part of a guided tour.
The tours take around 30 minutes and are available every day between 10 am and 6 pm (winter opening time) or from 9 am to 6 pm (summer opening time).
Tickets are only available from the Ticket Center in Hohenschwangau and can only be purchased on the day of your visit (two minutes walk from our resort). Please note that capacity is limited.
Hohenschwangau Castle is closed on 24 December and 1 January.
